Greeting from Coach Jim

I hope everyone is getting to watch the World Swimming Championships (July 24-Aug 2).  You can find coverage in many places including many of hte best races on you tube or just google, Phelps, Lochte, Franklin, etc.

Attached is an article about eating in the off season that was put in folders recently. All for improving eating habits and what one consumes but not for cutting back on amount just because on a 2week break.

Finally, I have urged swimmers to NOT NOT NOT swim over break.  Take two weeks off.  We have a long short-course season ahead and want everyone to come in mentally fresh and ready to learn, body rested and perhaps allow rest for growth.  Other forms of exercise in moderation is recommended. Walk, jog, run, bike, play volleyball, basketball, etc.

See you at the pool!

Summer Champs!

WOW!! WOW O WOW!!!  What a PHENOMENAL Summer Championships we had!!

Some prominent non-swimming things of note:

1. Team camaraderie - REALLY GREAT to see swimmers cheering for each other, taking time on the side of the pool to stop and watch their teammates and/or wait behind the blocks for others to swim even after finishing their event.

2. Good sportsmanship - Congratulating competitors in the neighboring lane after races! :)

3. Thank you parents for timing!!  I know it was a stretch and many doubled or tripled up - Thank you for pitching in!  Much lager teams had their names called out for not meeting their timing obligation and it good to be exemplary in this due to our great parents!

On to SWIMMING!  We started out red hot on Saturday with 100% Best Times in the 100 IMS and finished with an explosion of jaw-dropping 200 IM!  Most everyone essentially cut out a whole 25 yards-worth of time on their 2IMS!!  Great to see our IM focus on display!
